After years and years of chaos, great memories and laughter, you may find yourself back with an empty nest. With your kids off on their own, you finally have time to think about yourself! One thing that tends to be quick to recognize is that your large 4 bedroom home may be a bit excessive for just you and your husband or wife. You may be considering a downsize - but are just not quite sure the best route to go.
In my opinion, a condo is a great next step for empty nesters. There are several great reasons that I believe this.
Forget about maintenance: All of the years of mowing the lawn, shoveling the snow, trimming the trees can be a thing of the past! Condominium communities tend to include that service as part of your fee to live there.
A great size: Condos tend to be much smaller than homes. This is great because it means less cleaning and lower utility costs!
Invest more: Condos usually cost quite a bit less than homes. This means that when you sell your home, you will have plenty of leftover money to invest in your future. This could be just the right vehicle to setting up a great retirement for the both of you.
While there are tradeoffs to living in a condo, I see a lot of empty nesters that really enjoy the transition. If you have questions about making that transition, feel free to reach out to me at any point.
